Types of Shutters

So you have made the decision to install shutters in your home. Your next step is deciding which type of shutter suits your lifestyle, your personal style, and your needs. At Draperies ‘N Things we offer three distinct types of plantation shutters by Hunter Douglas: hardwood, hybrid, and polysatin. All three shutter styles are high quality, offer 99% UV protection, and are a great addition to any room.

Heritance® Hardwood Shutters

The first type of shutter we offer is the Heritance® hardwood shutter. This shutter is made from genuine hardwood and comes in the plantation-style. These shutters use dovetail construction, one of the oldest and strongest form of joinery in woodworking, for maximum strength and durability at their joints. These genuine hardwood shutters come in a wide range of sizes as well as a wide variety of paint colors. We offer color matching for our hardwood shutters, which opens up endless color possibilities. These shutters also have six unique finishes, Glazed, Glazed and Burnished, Classic Distressed, Heirloom Distressed, Rustic, and Textured. Our hardwood shutters are all finished with a multi-coat process of Integra™ finish, which creates a high lustrous shine and lasting durability that requires a very small amount of upkeep.

NewStyle™ Hybrid Shutters

The second type of shutter we offer is the NewStyle™ Hybrid Shutter. This shutter, which also comes in a large range of sizes, takes the appeal of hardwood shutters, like mimicking a grain like finish, and combines it with manmade materials to create a more durable product. The NewStyle™ Hybrid Shutters also use dovetail construction for maximum durability and are finished with the Finetech® Finishing coat which provides a micro-smooth satin finish which makes cleaning and dusting incredibly simple.

Palm Beach™ Polysatin Shutters

The last type of shutter we offer is the Palm Beach™ Polysatin Shutter. This type of shutter comes in the plantation-style like the hardwood and hybrid shutter. These shutters are unique because they are crafted with a UV resistant polysatin compound, which is guaranteed to never warp, crack, fade, chip, peel or discolor, no matter what temperature or conditions they are kept in. They also never need to be painted, sanded, or stained because of the type of material that is used. The polysatin shutters are reinforced at their major stress points with aluminum bracing and resin blocks for added durability.
